In 2018 the band took 'Songs of Experience' on the road across North America and Europe. It was a tour that was widely praised but in the midst of the growing refugee crisis and the rise of extremist politics in Europe, the final night in particular, at Berlin's Mercedez-Benz Arena last November, was lauded as a show for this moment in time. As Bono's devilish alter-ego Macphisto, puts it: "Remember, Berlin, whenever you see a journalist being crushed, or children being separated from their parents, whenever the lost or the lonely are washed up on borders that are closed... you will find me.' With a new year beginning, the band have curated a special 75 minute edition of the two hour long performance, which will air as a concert special on broadcast networks as 2020 arrives. At the end of a tumultous and divisive year in many countries, the word from early screenings is that this is a show to bring people together.
